I just edit the script right in Notion and export it as a markdown document, which is recognized by my Jekyll website. So, they can see my progress without emailing me.įinally, any video script can easily be transformed into a blog-post.
I usually add a Progress tracker page, which I can share with a sponsor if it is a sponsored video. You can embed different media, add tables, calendars and much more. For example, you can get a table of content with just one click. There are even more options which you can access by typing /. You can format your text by highlighting it and selecting a style. Notion has all the features of a powerful document editor. Writing video scripts is also very efficient. And it is the same information which is presented in different views. I can also see how these video topics are distributed in my calendar. So, I can see potential video topics, videos which are in production, and videos that are done and published. The same information can be viewer as a progress board. If I click on any of them, I can open it and edit its script. There is a simple table overview of all topics. I can have everything in one place, and it is completely integrated. Notion turned out to be a perfect app for organizing my YouTube video production. I also used Trello for progress tracking. I had a list of potential topics in a spreadsheet, scripts as separate documents, and schedule as a calendar. I did not have a proper system to organize my YouTube video production. But after exploring it more, I fall in love with it, and I am switching to Notion as my note-taking and organizer app.
When Notion approached me to review their app, I agreed because this app made a very nice first impression.

Notion is free for personal use and reasonably priced if you want the Pro features, or you need to work in a Team. So, your notes are always synced across devices. It is a web app, so it works fine on Linux, Chrome OS, Windows, Mac. You can share some of your notes and work on them together with others. Moreover, Notion is probably the best all-in-one tool to work in a team. You can also create your own templates by customizing an existing one or by creating it from scratch. Before the deeper issues such as latency and user habits are addressed, it will still be hard for Notion to significantly improve user engagement in their mobile app.Notion is more than just a note-taking app. I made this assumption based on my personal intuition, but, perhaps, note-taking engagement will be marginal even if the user experience is optimized. Taking one more step back, this entire redesign is based on the assumption that users would more frequently use Notion’s mobile app to take or edit notes given that this process is made simpler. Notion users care about file organization, but it takes time to move or create a note to the right page locationĬreating and deleting notes is not made bluntly simple on Notion, but it’s crucial to have an incredibly simple interface while taking notes on the go under time pressure. Notion has more complicated file structures and allows a deeper page hierarchy whereas Notes only has 1 folder layer. Although my redesigns seem nuanced, the subtle improvement compounds due to users’ frequent interactions with these features while editing notion pages.
